UC Architect (1968) with postgraduate studies in France under the direction of Jean Prouvé. He was a tenured professor at the School of Architecture at the Catholic University of Valparaíso from 1972 to 1990. He is currently a professor at the UC School of Architecture, serving as Director and a member of the Editorial Committee of the ARQ magazine from 2004 to 2014. He was part of the research team for the FONDEF DO3I1020 project 'Envelope Housing Design' and is the author of the book 'Resistant Form,' a teaching material for architecture students.
He has developed his professional work within the office Baixas and Del Río Arquitectos, being a co-author of works such as the Interactive Museum Mirador (MIM), the Puertas de la Reina Housing Complex, the PROLAM Building, etc.
He was awarded the Fermín Vivaceta Prize 2006 by the College of Architects of Chile and was President of the XVI Chilean Architecture Biennale in 2008. His work 'House in La Dehesa' and the furniture piece 'Puzzle Chair' have been part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York since 2015.
