Ries

Argentina

Ries is a furniture and design studio founded in Buenos Aires in 2016 by Marcos Altgelt and Tasio Picollo. Their practice focuses on the properties of different materials and their industrial and artisanal techniques. Through a collective approach, the team combines craftsmanship with serial manufacturing to develop functional objects, limited-edition furniture, and interior design projects. Their work balance geometric clarity with structural problem-solving.

The studio has participated in exhibitions and fairs in the United States, Europe, and Latin America, and their pieces have been documented in publications such as The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Vogue, and Wallpaper*. In 2018, they co-founded Quick Tiny Shows, an experimental platform for art, design, and architecture exhibitions. They also established Concepción Local in 2021, a project space for the independent design community in Buenos Aires. Since 2022, Altgelt and Picollo have taught Strategic Design Management as professors at Torcuato Di Tella University.
