The CAP Chair belongs to a furniture collection developed by the Brazilian architecture office Clube in collaboration with the technical fashion brand P.ANDRADE. The project was conceived alongside the launch of P.ANDRADE’s “Nonhuman Life”—a clothing line exploring biomimicry and insect anatomy.
Its nomenclature, "CAP," synthesizes a layered set of abstract references: it simultaneously alludes to a garment, references a standard industrial plastic component, and serves as an acronym derived from both studios' initials.
Directly informed by the biological research behind the apparel line, the chair merges raw industrial manufacturing with zoomorphic structural qualities. Crafted from modular aluminum profiles, the piece features exposed mechanical joints and sharp, angular geometries that evoke the intricate architecture of an insect's exoskeleton. The project’s collaborative origin, balanced by a synthesis of industrial restraint and a subtle sense of playful humor, perfectly mirrors Clube’s broader, experimental approach to contemporary architecture.
