Kilzi

Venezuela

Jorge Suarez Kilzi was born in Venezuela to a Spanish father and Syrian mother.

His designs are a testament to a life marked by continuous migration between cultures across Latin America, Southern Europe, and Syria. They also reflect the artistic discipline of Japan, gained from his experience in the architecture ofices of SANAA (Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa) and Junya Ishigami, where he was inspired by the delicate balance between fluidity and structure.

As he understands it, there is a duality in every memorable object. There is a physical reality and a non-physical reality. He intends to expand the expression of the pieces beyond their materiality, endowing them with meaning and emotion. In this sense, light is a secondary state of the material that speaks to that non-material reality.
